Institute of Public Health for the Požega-Slavonia County is in charge of preparation of recommendations for local government units in cross-border area presenting efficient and ecologically acceptable mosquito abatement and has participated in its presentation to LGU representatives. Based on mapping and the Upgraded ICT tool, the Institute has prepared predictions regarding the mosquito population.
The Institute of Public Health of the Pozega-Slavonia County is a public health institution that performs public health activities in accordance with the law on health care and the National Strategy for Health Development of the Republic of Croatia as follows:
- Implements specific preventive health care for children and youth, especially in primary and secondary schools and colleges in its area,
- Monitors, studies, evaluates and reports on the health needs and functional disability of older people, and proposes health measures for its area,
- Collects, controls and analyzes statistical reports in the field of healthcare, including addiction diseases, at the level of regional self-government units for the needs of the Croatian Institute of Public Health,
- At the request of the head of the local self-government, monitors and evaluates the health status of the population in the area,
- Continuously implements hygienic-epidemiological protection measures with an epidemiological analysis of the situation in the area of the regional self-government unit and, if necessary, implements anti-epidemic measures and supervises the implementation of mandatory immunizations,
- Implements gerontological health care measures,
- Analyzes the epidemiological situation, plans, proposes and participates in the implementation of measures and activities for the prevention, early detection and suppression of addiction diseases,
- Cooperates with health and other institutions and health workers in the implementation of diagnostics and treatment of addiction diseases, as well as rehabilitation and social integration of addicts,
- Supervises the implementation of DDD measures, and implements preventive and anti-epidemic procedures of DDD for the area of local and regional units,
- Performs microbiological activities of interest to the local and regional unit,
- Monitors, studies, analyzes and evaluates the healthiness of drinking water, water for recreation and physical therapy, surface and waste water, the state of water supply, and the healthiness of foodstuffs and items of general use for the area of the regional (regional) self-government unit,
- Participates in the creation and implementation of individual health care programs in extraordinary circumstances,
- Monitors, analyzes and evaluates the impact of the environment and food on the health status of the population of the regional self-government unit,
- Participates in planning, proposing and implementing measures for the prevention, early detection and suppression of chronic mass diseases, including addiction diseases,
- Distributes mandatory vaccines to clinics at the primary level of health care in the area of the regional self-government unit,
- Performs other tasks in the field of public health, and at the request of the Croatian Institute of Public Health,
- Provides consulting and education services related to ensuring the healthiness of food and general use items, and especially education related to the introduction of new quality systems (HACCP, etc.),
- Performs other tasks entrusted by the Požega-Slavonia County, in accordance with the law.
