Field visit and 5th project meeting in Osijek, Croatia

The project team members together with the leading partner visited illuminated info-panels (billboards) that attract and kill mosquitoes, on October 20, 2022. Members of the project team of the Teaching Institute of Public Health of Osijek-Baranja County presented to the members of the project team the construction and design of mosquito suppression panels placed in the area of Osijek-Baranja County. The panels were opened and the principle of operation of all parts was explained in detail. The panels are controlled via a mobile app that is part of the billboard’s smart socket system. Team members visited the following locations: Vladislavci, Čepin, Antunovac, Osijek promenade (pedestrian bridge), Drinska Street, near the Teaching Institute.

At the meeting on October 21, 2022, members of the project team were present, Teaching Institute of Public Health of Osijek-Baranja County (leading partner), representatives of the Institute of Public Health Sombor (project partner), the Institute of Public Health of Požega-Slavonia County (project partner), representatives of the “European Affairs” Fund of APV (project partner) and the Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina (project partner).

In front of the leading partner, Magdalena Sikora, greeted everyone present and presented to the partners the activities that have been carried out so far in the 4th period. She expressed satisfaction with the realization of all planned activities for the fourth period. She referred to mosquito sampling activities and the distribution of traps for gravid female mosquitoes to citizens. She mentioned the planned inspection of the condition of traps for gravid female mosquitoes in the next mosquito season.

In front of the Institute of Public Health of Požega-Slavonia County, Dalibor Puharić, briefly presented the dynamics of sampling and an overview of sampled species in the county.

Milan Racić, in front of the Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina, gave a brief report on the activities carried out, referring to the small number of mosquitoes during the season.

Dragoslava Čubrilo, in front of the Institute of Public Health Sombor, pointed out that sampling of mosquitoes has been done and that the Institute is ready to test mosquitoes for pathogens.

In front of the “European Affairs” Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Sanja Čuturilov Veselinović presented the Mobile Application developed as part of the project. She mentioned that an Upgraded joint protocol for emergencies has been prepared, and that a promotional film is being made. She agreed with the partners on the time of the education for the use of the ICT tool.

The partners confirmed the agreed dates of the Round Tables for health workers: in Požega and in Novi Sad.
